1985 Mazda 626 Turbo: Long before the MazdaSpeed6, there was this

Okay, this wasn’t the top trim, as there were some groovy GT models in coupe, hatch and sedan form (in different years?); but you get the point.  This is a turbocharged, manual-transmission-equipped mid-80s sedan in great shape.

The claimed 104K miles seems legit, given the apparent condition.  For once, we have an unusual Craigslist car in good shape at a reasonable asking price!

I believe the flat wheel covers would be a giveaway to this car’s turbo nature to a 626 expert, but there’s really not a lot of ‘flair’ here at all, especially for 985.

There’s nothing here to give away its turbo nature – strange for the 80s.

Full red interior FTW!

Aftermarket head unit isn’t the best fit, but one can hope no panels were damaged in the process.

Old-school air cleaner assembly is a nice throw-back.

Ad text:

I have an extremely clean Mazda 626 LX with 104k original miles. This car has a manual 5 speed transmission with no grinds or pops. It’s fast and fun to drive. The white exterior and red interior make this car an attention-grabber from the get go. It has power windows, upgraded sound system, ice cold ac, heater, and all gears shift smoothly…everything works and its my daily driver. The car is extremely clean inside and out with no tears or scratches and the tags and registration are up to date. The tires are only a few months old and have good traction.
I just recently reduced the price from $3500 to $3000 OBO for a quicker sale. I need the money to continue attending college at the moment. Call or text me at (714) xxx-xxxx. Cash only, no low ballers, serious buyers only. Thanks a lot, God Bless!

That's not a turbo. The turbo didn't come out until '86.

Well, crap, you're right! We fell victim to the Craigslist ad title, but the old-school air cleaner and intake routing should have given it away…
