We’re big fans of subcompact (AKA shitbox) pickup conversions, and we’re excited to see our first-ever Accent conversion!
We like the work here, as the tailgate can open and the rear seats are a huge bonus. We’re sure your wife won’t mind if you strap the kids back there. Underneath it all is a good condition, 136K mile Accent with a manual trans and apparently good overall condition, minus the worn driver’s seat. This should have plenty of life left in it and it’s certainly unique. We might be in love, but we wonder where the reserve price has been set…

$200 with one bid, reserve not met and 5.5 days to go
Profile is unmistakably custom!
Front looks close to stock, but one can tell not all is normal.
Here’s a view of the bed, which seems to be very well done. Note spare and hinge.
Yes, this actually has an operating tail gate!
The seats are a great touch and are apparently easy to remove.
Interior is great for the age, which means not perfect.

Do you ‘want’ a truck, but also ‘need’ a fuel efficient, compact, commuter car? Look no further!
I own an automotive repair and restoration shop in Loomis California and hand made this little unique car in my spare time. The car started life as a completely stock and well cared for 2000 Hyundai Accent Hatchback. After removing the rear upholstery and roof section, I fabricated a “bed” frame from box tubing and then covered it with 18 gauge sheet metal. The rear section of the “cab” was made from the lift gate off a 2001 Mazda Tribute. Extensive metal work was done to ensure strength, safety and very little body-filler before the beautiful bright red paint was professionally sprayed on.
Much like the Subaru Brat, jump seats were also installed, as shown in the picture. They also fold upright and take up very little room in the bed. They require one bolt to be removed and they easily slide out of a receiver hitch welded to the structure of the bed, making this car well suited for any needs. The jump seats came from a 1996 Nissan truck and have DOT approved seatbelts attached to them. With the seats removed, the bed measures nearly 40″x40″; enough to stand a refrigerator in the back! The bed is also tough enough to put an engine in the back.
Being a California car its whole life, there is absolutely no rust on or in the car. The car is also very clean, inside and out. It drives very well and is very quiet. No leaks, ticking or smoke from the engine. This unique car also passed California’s strict emissions testing less than 2 months ago and carries a clean title in my name, with current registration.
Power brakes, steering, windows, locks, mirrors and air conditioning all work as they should. Even the power amenities on the retrofitted rear glass (wiper, defrost) work exactly as they should, using the stock Hyundai switches. The clutch is smooth, tires are good. All in all, a very mechanically sound car that looks great, runs great, gets 32 miles per gallon and can still haul things like a truck.
Why buy two vehicles when this utilitarian compact can do the job of a commuter car and a small truck? Have the only car like this in your town, maybe the only one in your state!
Please call Bethel’s Country Motors, weekdays from 8AM to 4PM with any questions or of you’d like to come see and test drive this car.

One response to “2000 Hyundai Accent Pickup Conversion with Brat-Type Bed Seats!”
$800 didn’t do the trick. I guess I won’t be flying in and driving home.
