A different Fiat 850

When I hear Fiat 850, I think roadster.  That and the Siata Spring are the only two 850 variants we’ve posted.  The 850 was, however, offered in sedan, coupe, wagon and van variants, as well.  Today’s subject car is the two-door sedan.

I really like this car for its quirkiness.  Naturally, the driving experience would be all 850, which means not a lot of power.  This one certainly appears to be in good shape, though it was once blue, which is obvious in a couple pictures and disclosed by the seller.  The seller also mentions an ‘auto shift’ transmission – we’d like to know more about that…

This is a sedan due to the tiny, flat ‘trunk’ ledge, which is, of course, the engine cover.  Coupes had more of a true fastback style.

You gotta love the front trunk with forward hinges.

Interior looks nice enough.  The shifter is in the standard location, despite ‘auto shift’.

Access doesn’t look great here, all things considered, but the engine is tiny and pretty straightforward.  I dig the exhaust pipe.

Classic micro car 1968 Fiat 850 Sedan AutoShift. Water cooled rear engine. New head job, gasket. New belts. No rust issues. Parts are still many available, many Fiat 850 variants were made. Originally blue, painted red by previous owner. No body damage. All electrical system works. Starts right up, no smoke. The paint is starting to peel in certain places. The chrome has some pitting. The interior is clean, no rips. I don’t have the spare tire or original rims. Clean California title. Same size as a classic Mini Cooper.
