The BMW X5 4.6is, and later and 4.8is, was essentially the X5 M before the M division sold its soul and decided to make an official M version of its SUV/crossover vehicles, known only to BMW as Sports Activity Vehicles. Most enthusiasts, and us in the industry, considered this an unofficial M, and it lived up to the name.
These beauties have ridiculously wide rear tires that give them a mean stance and they have the engine upgrades to back up the look. 355HP isn’t insane today, but it was a lot ins 2005 and this vehicle is no slouch today, except vs. the current crop of M and AMG SUVs.
This one has a great color combo and the mileage is low at 66K. All-in-all, this is a nice car, but we’d sure like to see better interior and engine compartment shots to get a better feel for it. If it checks out, has maintenance records and the seller can be talked down a few thousand, this could be a deal. There are others for sale with higher mileage for less money, but this one seems to have a lot to offer.
