AMC Body on a Mercedes Chassis? Why not?

Here you get not one, but two titles!  Yes, the seller decided to take body panels from an AMC Javelin and put them onto a Mercedes “SD”, which, we assume, means a 300SD.  Given neither is of body on frame construction, it seems this means the body panels were grafted onto the Mercedes unibody, but I’m not sure how the roof and pillars would work – this must have taken a lot of can opener and welder (or screwdriver?) time.

We can’t tell much from the garbage pictures, but it does look like the wheel openings line up.  I guess that’s a start if one wants to do this sort of thing.  Included in the minimal ad text is the obligatory reference to ‘veggie diesel’ included in every ad for a diesel vehicle.  It’s sort of the ‘barn find’ of the diesel world.
