Bavarian awkwardness

Even with styling help from Italy, these had some of the funkiest front ends ever.  Of course, we love ’em!

Federal Way, Washington
05/14/2013 update:  SOLD for $22,537.99 (awesome) with 47 bids.  Apparently, these have been discovered, but that’s a LOT less than a 3.0CS.

What a great place to spend some time.  We’ve said it before – we miss full-color interiors.

Tasty 4cyl with twin solex sidedraft carbs…

For your consideration, I’m offering my 1967 BMW 2000CS.  This car is an original survivor car with 114,100 miles which I believe to be accurate based on the over all condition of the car.  It was sold new in California. I purchased the car about 7 years ago because it was such and honest and original 2000CS.  If you know these cars you know they have rust issues, this car has virtually none.  It is a survivor car that is mostly original and has had one repaint which shows well.

This 2000CS is a USA export car.  I changed the headlight to the European design, because it better suits the car. The gauages are in MPH as a USA export car should be. The car has some unusual and rare options.  It has the very, very rare POWER sunroof, power rear windows and extremely rare Blaupunkt AM/FM Short wave international band radio, with power antenna (currently no-op).  It also has the incredibly unusual REAR speaker option with fader option.

The car runs and drives very well. I had the radiator rebuilt, new water pump, all belts and hoses. Full tune up and valve adjustment. Using only German parts. I had the original Solex carburators tuned and adjusted by a local race/dyno shop specializing in BMW, Ferrari and Maserati cars. Rebuilt master cylinder, etc.  All fluids have been flushed and changed.  The steering wheel is dealer option; a date coded 1968 Personal wheel and hub from Italy, which may be available to the auction winner.  The original wheel is in great shape and is included with the car.

Also included is the original spare tire, jack, original tool kit, books and manuals.  The car also has the original keys, and the “Hella” headlight key.  In addition I have extra parts that come with the car US headlights/bezels, European headlights, bezels, headlight glass, and extra 2000 CS air cleaner, plus some misc. parts. I have an original set of circa1968 magnesium wheels built specifically for the 2000CS by “Grand Prix” which can be negotiated if buyer wants them.

I drive the car often, but not excessively, and never in the rain. I recently drove the car on a 300 mile trip with no problems except I noticed the passengers side brake dragging.  I am having the front brake calipers rebuilt. If not finished by acution close, I will work out the difference with the new owner.  The car is sold with a valid Washington State registration, but no title. I have a copy of the original title from California but I lost the previous title and am waiting for one to be issued in the coming months. A title will available to a Washington State resident, other wise the car is sold with a bill of sale and a valid Washington state registration in my name.  Many states do not require a title on antique vehicles. Check with your state for guidance.

This 2000CS is one of the few BMW 2000CS that is honest, original and not rusty.  It has some very rare options that makes it more desirable than other CS coupes. Please call me or email me for more details and I’d be happy to send more photos and discuss the car.  Inspections are encouraged and welcome.  Ph # 206-xxx-xxxPacific time zone.
