Ah, Packard. It was once one of the proudest, and most impressive, American automakers. It met something of an undignified end, having been purchased by Studebaker in the mid-1950s and with the final vehicles little more than rebadged Studes. That didn’t make for bad cars, but they were far from the luxurious Packards of yore.
Nostalgia for the brand never really went away, and today’s feature car is an example of exactly that. This is basically a Lincoln Town Car with some fiberglass bits and a few Packard badges, but it was one of a few attempts to bring back the glory days.
This neo-classic has the typically bizarre grille – usually the most prominent feature and biggest change from stock. The side treatment is a bit above and beyond, as many stop with the front. Two-tone also helps set this one apart. Judging the results is a subjective matter, but we’re struggling to see this as better than stock. Still, it’s unique!
Underneath is a low mileage Town Car with the stock 4.6L V8 and automatic – items shared with a vast majority of taxis and police cars from the period and thus easy to service and with readily-available parts.

Did you really think the rear would be left alone? Not only does it have a mini-Continental kit, but the vertical surface of the trunk lid is covered in cloth. Why not?
Before we go inside, let’s have a look at the Packard center caps and whitewalls.
Custom interiors are expensive and cars like this don’t usually get ’em. That’s the case here, where we see only a gaudy steering wheel cover (patch?) and a placard on the dash.

Engine is a stock Lincoln/Ford 4.6L V8 – plenty torquey for confortable cruising.

Up for auction at NO RESERVE is a beautiful 2006 Bayliff Packard that is based on a 2006 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series with 48,000 original miles. This one of a kind car was customized by the BAYLIFF COACH CORPORATION which borrowed styling cues from Packard automobiles of years gone by. The beautiful black and green metallic paint is in stunning condition with barely a mark. The only flaws are on the hood where the paint is starting to separate from the fiberglass in a few areas. All the paint is there, but it is bubbling up on these spots (please see the last two photos). The black cloth half top with a cross hatch pattern is like new. All the chrome including the unique Packard grille and wheels are beautiful. The whitewall tires are like new.
The interior still smells like new. The black leather seats, door panels, headliner, carpeting and dash all look almost new. Even the original floor mats are nice. This very unique car has been garage kept and it is obvious it has only been driven in fair weather. It is very, very clean inside and out. Please see the photos of the engine compartment and the underside of the car.
It pains me to part with this car, but I have decided to sell it so that I can use the money to put a new roof on my home.
