Our billions of fans know how much we love custom utes, and it does seem that VWs lend themselves to this sort of modification. In this case, a 2004 Jetta GLS was chopped and have some sporty bits and air suspension added for good measure. Really, this trucklet looks pretty awesome!
The mods are pretty tasteful here, as is the bodywork, which appears to have been done to a high standard. It’s not clear when the conversion was done, but there are some signs of wear – especially cracking in the fiberglass and paint.
Below is the bed – what everyone wants to see. IT looks to be finished well enough, even if the picture itself isn’t great.
The Volkswagen script on the tailgate is a very nice touch!
GLI seats are a welcome sight in any Jetta. We’re a bit less sure about the wood steering wheel, but that’s an easy swap.
Even more of a welcome sight in any interior is a manual shifter! The double-DIN head unit also means this vehicle can easily be modernized with Android Auto and/or CarPlay (if this unit doesn’t already have ’em).
The seller doesn’t provide much info related to the air ride system, but here’s part of it. We assume it offers some ability to change ride height, like most such systems.

Purchased two years ago and has been garage kept and driven sparingly, mainly for local car shows.
Some details:
1.8t engine tuned ecu from United Motorsports. 3″ down pipe and custom exhaust, as well as an upgraded side mount intercooler. 20th anniversary GTI front end swap along with euro mirrors and glass headlights. Factory Recaro seats and custom gold steering wheel. Heat and AC. Full air lift airride system with 2 viar compressors under the bed floor, stainless 5-gallon tank with a digital controller. Truck bed.
Minor issues:
Cracking in fiberglass (see pictures).
Dogbone bushing needs replacement.
Last couple of pictures show the dings/dents/cracks that are noticeable.
Suspension:
Will need right control arm bushing replaced soon.
It was taken to Wright Auto Works on 12/13/2024. Only issues noted were regarding the suspension/mount. See last picture for that invoice page.
Selling as is. Overall, cool unique car to own. Buyer must pick up or arrange shipping.
