Many don’t realize that the more conservatively styled MN12 Cougar was available with all the mechanical bits from the highly regarded (at the time) Thunderbird SC. We previously featured one of the uber-rare manual versions. Today’s feature car is special because of the condition and low 37K miles.
It appears this has no reserve – it’s a lot of car at the current $2,500, and even the $7K BIN isn’t terrible. Potential buyers just have to decide if a low mileage, great condition automatic is as cool as a manual. Either way, this has enough torque to move this not-so-light personal luxury coupe with authority. I know because a friend had one in high school.

These wheels were unique to the high performance XR-7s of 89-91ish (91 had a 5.0 V8), but were resurrected later in the lifecycle when no performance version remained and all Cougars were XR-7s.
Monochrome grille was also unique to the early XR-7.
Rear end doesn’t have much in the way of unique identifiers, just subtle dual exhaust and the XR7 badge.
Typical of Ford and Merc performance cars at the time, these have multi-adustable seats, these in cloth, which should be nice and grippy. These also have adjustable dampers.
Vac/Boost gauge is obviously unique to supercharged XR-7s and T-Bird SCs.
