Manual, 4WD Sentra Wagon!

Yes, this wagon has a selectable transfer case, so it has four-wheel drive, rather than all-wheel drive.  At the end of the day, it’s an Oddimotive dream, either way, as it has also been turbocharged!

This is an original AWD Sentra wagon, but the engine was swapped for a 1991-1994 GA16DE 1.6L and then a turbo kit was added.  The seller provided links in the ad to forum coverage of the work done and a quick overview indicates a lot of work went into it  The question is whether you can register it in your state.  We’d certainly have some trouble here in California…

Nissan apparently went to the Subaru styling book for this wagon design.  There’s nothing wrong with that.

Okay, the profile view looks slightly less Subie.

The rear end has a surprising curve – possibly the only one on the car.

Interior appears to be in great shape and has subtle upgrades, including a gauge cluster swap to add a tach.

Storage space is more than ample.  We’re not sure what happened to the floor/cover.

Here’s the engine.  There’s some evidence of minor mods, but it certainly doesn’t scream ‘SWAP.’

The car has some unavoidable surface rust, but doesn’t appear to have rust-through.  A driveshaft under a Sentra is a cool sight.

Where do I begin?

You’re looking at a “one of one” car!  This is a 1989 Nissan Sentra XE 4WD Wagon – It’s pretty rare in and of itself.

The modifications list to get this car to a “1 of 1” status, is awesome!  In 1989, the stock motor was a 90HP GA16i.  About 13 years ago, it got swapped out for a 110HP, DOHC, 16-valve GA16DE motor from a B13 (1990-1994) Nissan Sentra.  Add to that, a Hotshot TSi Superior specific GA16DE Turbo Kit, good for another ~40HP, a stock R160 limited slip differential from a Subaru XT Turbo, and upgraded adjustable suspension by AGX and a strut-tower brace from a B13 ‘E’ model.

This car is set up perfectly, and runs 100% without a fault.  The entire build this car received was done by one sole Nissan Master Technician, who has numerous write-ups and build details of the car.  You can find all of the detailed information of this car at the following forums:

The reading is exhausting, but very detailed, and should answer any question you may have about the build.

So, the car:  It is a three-owner car.  It originally was purchased from Landmark Nissan in Oneonta, NY.  Owner #2 is the gentleman who did all the upgrades to the car.  The 3rd owner is a good friend of both Owner #2 and me, and whom I bought the car from.  It’s in very good condition for a 26-year old car!  I just recently had the car detailed from the winter, and New York State inspected.  As stated, the car runs without fault, and is very reliable and dependable.  It was used as a daily driver for the last few years.  Exterior of the car shows very well, with minor cosmetic blemishes, as seen in the pictures.  Surface rust is at an absolute minimum, and the underbody was bead-blasted and undercoated each season, before each start of our NYS winters.  There has been some touch-up work done to the car, as seen in the pictures.  The interior of the car is in excellent condition for it’s age.  The seats, carpeting, headliner, and door cards, dash, and trim all show exceptionally well.  The gauge cluster was replaced with one from a GXE model that has a tachometer, low fuel light, and intermittent wipers.  The odometer reads about 159,000 but there’s no where near that on the motor, but possibly on the body.  The head unit is aftermarket with CD/MPS/iPod/USB and Bluetooth interface and hands-free calling.  Dash is original and crack and fade-free.  Please see the several (recent as of this week) pictures on eBay, and also feel free to browse the entire Photobucket album (189 pics and 2 vids) of this car in it’s last 15 or so years.

I have a rear cargo area full of extras for the car.  The extras include two (2) L and R original glass Nissan headlights, never used. An extra front bumbper, as the current bumper on the car has been cut to accept the HID driving lights currently on the car.  There are four (4) inner and outter CV shaft boots, new in Nissan boxes.  Also have rear suspension knuckles, never used, and other odds and ends I may be forgetting.  Also, as you can see from the current pics, the car is running 1st generation Mazda Miata wheels (4×100) that are about 12 pounds lighter per corner.  They’re the only set of wheels/tires I have at the moment.  No big deal, really, but they’re not original to the car.  The car also has the original window sticker, and owner’s manual.  It has some maintenance documentation, and other paperwork, one original Nissan key, plus a spare.  The only real flaw with the car, that needs attention is the windshield.  It has a crack in it.  We might be able to work that repair cost into the final winning bid.

Good luck!

I had one, a 1987 which I replaced the 1.6 with a 1.8 and had to drill out the flywheel and use an Altima throwout bearing to compensate but it gave it the pep it needed and better fuel economy. I loved it except the 4WD was for occasional use only and not a "real time" system.
