Mullet Car? It’s not what you think.

The seller did a fine job of hiding this fact in he photos with strategically terrible angles, but this IS a mullet car.  Police car in front, sporty coupe in back.

This generation of Caprice had a fourteen model year run, which is actually longer than the current Lincoln navigator.  If the front of this car looks familiar, you were arrested many times in the 80s and early 90s.  Or you rode in a lot of cabs.  Or you just watched a lot of T.J. Hooker, and/or other police shows.

Look toward the rear of this one, however, and you’ll see it has only two doors and a funky rear window.  Yes, this is the Landau Coupe version, complete with vinyl roof.  “Sport Coupe” models were two-doors sans vinyl.  Well, at least sans roof vinyl.

This car appears to be in very good shape and is claimed to be an estate sale.  137K miles since 1979 is not a lot…

Two doors, or four?  The door is long, which gives this away for a keen observer.

This photo cuts off at just the right spot.

If you squint, you can identify the body type here, but the seller did a great job of lining up that shadow as a disguise.

Ah-ha!  Here’s a shot that shows the coupe nature of this beast.  I wonder if this glass is hard to find now.

The interior – well, it looks like a late 70s Caprice, which is to say it looks like a police car from the 80s, but with faux wood trim.  Note the cheapo seat covers.

Apparently, this car was ordered with police vinyl.

This is either a 305 or 350 V8, but don’t get too excited about output. Still, it probably sounds like a V8 and has decent low-end torque to move this boat.
