Mustang-Inspired Celica, Round Two

There’s little argument about the fact that 1976-era Celica took a great many styling cues from the 1969-1970 Mustang Sportsroof (Ford did NOT call them fastbacks).  As a kid, however, I always saw a lot of 1979 Fox Mustang influence in these coupes from the early- to mid 80s.

Looking at this car today, I see many more differences and would argue that this looks like a better design than the 1979 Mustang.  The Fox Mustang peaked later, though when is debatable.  Regardless, these are cool little RWD sport coupes with Toyota reliability.  This onel isn’t perfect, but also doesn’t look like a beater.  The seats are cheaply covered, so likely worn out, and we’d bet the mileage is high, but the seller chose not to tell us.  Perhaps a modern seat upgrade would be in order, as this isn’t one anyone will feel compelled to preserve as stock.
