Nissan is uniquely positioned to celebrate significant milestones for vehicles still in the same life cycle. The 50th Anniversary Nissan/Datsun Z was revealed in New York, but also serves as the 10th Anniversary of the 370Z itself, which has soldiered on since 2009 with minimal changes. Too bad it’s not “black gold.”
We expect to hear more soon on the 12th Anniversary GTR and 15th Anniversary Frontier, as these also approach major milestones with little to nothing in terms of sheet metal changes. Company representatives refused to comment, but Infiniti may also celebrate ten years of the M/Q70 this year and ten years of the QX56/QX80 in 2020.

These organizations recognized the waste and took steps to counter it as a means to ensure an increased profit. The changes in everything, but price, were minimal. Smart move. As the reality of population and waste catches up with us, this may be a wake up call to our increasingly predictable future.
We seem to always off load the problems we create to our kids.
Lucky them.
