Quickie: Diesel Maxima w/five-speed

Here’s a strange piece of Nissan’s history – the LD28, which was closely related to the engines in all 240Z through 280ZXs, before the V6 came along.   Here, we like the two-tone paint, we like the manual trans and we like talking Maximas in general.  The only thing we’d prefer would be the uber-rare diesel, manual Maxima wagon.

This doesn’t look to be in great shape, but isn’t horrible, either. Does being in Dolly Parton’s hometown add value?

At a minimum, the crank is worth $400 to someone wanting to stroke a Z engine.  Your humble host’s 280Z shares a crank with this engine, as a matter of fact.

Just what was the towing capacity of this bad boy?

Could be worse…

Outwardly, this doesn’t look remarkably different from a gas L28.
