Here’s a strange piece of Nissan’s history – the LD28, which was closely related to the engines in all 240Z through 280ZXs, before the V6 came along. Here, we like the two-tone paint, we like the manual trans and we like talking Maximas in general. The only thing we’d prefer would be the uber-rare diesel, manual Maxima wagon.
This doesn’t look to be in great shape, but isn’t horrible, either. Does being in Dolly Parton’s hometown add value?
At a minimum, the crank is worth $400 to someone wanting to stroke a Z engine. Your humble host’s 280Z shares a crank with this engine, as a matter of fact.

1983 Datsun Maxmia diesel. runs and drives good. has 2.8l straight 6 cyl diesel engine and manual 5 speed transmission. 193,400 miles. the car is in good shape for the year. tires have very little tread and will need replaced soon. the alternator is not charging the batttery and i am not sure why. there are a few small dents and some dings and scratches. has power windows that all work. the radio is missing. there is no ignition or key there is a switch to turn the ignition power on and a push button to start the car. clear TN title in hand. if you have any questions or would like to view the car or test drive it my number is. 865-235-3981 Matt.
