We once featured a Plymouth Scamp here, but we’ve never featured its higher volume twin, the Dodge Rampage. Maybe we were just waiting for one with the exciting Prospector Package and shitty paint.
In truth, it looks like it’s largely prepped for paint and the current owner has taken care of it. Good news is it has a five-speed manual. Bad news is it doesn’t have a 2.2L turbo, as the factory never offered it, but it’s a semi-popular swap, to the extent any Rampage or Scamp is popular. What we miss is the giant “RAMPAGE 2.2” decal on the bedside of certain models. This would be a cool little parts runner for someone, plus the bad paint means it’s ready for a Pebble Beach quality restoration whenever you are.

Custom wheels don’t look bad here. Or…did these have surprisingly cool stock wheels?
We love accordion boots.
Who needs a tach with a five-speed? The seller notes that the speedo’s not working, either…
LEGENDARY 2.2L I4! Okay, at least the vehicle is pretty light.

1984 Dodge Rampage Truck 2.2L 5-Speed Manual (Prospector Package)
This is a 1984 Dodge Rampage, it has a 2.2L engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. The exterior has the silver and black prospector package scheme. I purchased it from Arizona as a project and now need to sell to finish other projects. Daily driven for the last year. This little truck has a lot of new or rebuilt parts installed within the last year. There is no rust below or on top, the interior is good, it needs a couple of pieces to finish but is almost complete. It doesn’t appear the bed has ever had much in it so it is still in great condition. There is a dent in the front passenger fender but can be straightened. The guy before me did some sanding and priming work to the car, but it appears to still have the original paint and lower striping package.
The engine was changed less than 2000 miles ago. It came from a car that had 60k original miles on it since he took it out and swapped it for a turbo. He was a Chrysler mechanic and he replaced the steel head gasket with a new composite style gasket to ensure no coolant leaking (known 2.2 problem) so this motor is clean, its a strong little motor. Runs cool, I have an aftermarket temperature gauge installed under the dash to confirm while driving. This is a car that can be driven while you work on it, runs great! It gets great mileage for those trips you need a fuel efficient truck for. Gets a lot of comments while driving. Arizona title..
