Ranchero + cheesy ad = win!

Here we have a low mileage Ford Ranchero 500 with the 400 CID V8.  Good stuff by itself, but ad the cheesy photos and it’s even better.

It’s sad that the 1977 400 only put out 175HP and 326 lb-ft of torque.  The 1971 version was rated at 260HP, though that would be gross HP.  Still, your humble host remembers the 400 moving an LTDII Country Squire wagon with some level of authority.  That had to relate to 326 lb-ft all available at 1,600 RPM.

05/25/2013 update: Ended at $5,402 with 10 bids and reserve not met.  Now relisted and at $4,494 with 5 bids and reserve not met.

Do you think she knew what a Ranchero was before this photo shoot?

What is it with these steering wheel covers?  ANYTHING else would better.

To the loyal enthusiast of the 7th and final generation Ranchero, a one-in-a-million example like this is an ultra rare find.  It has the most powerful engine offered that year, the handling/towing package, power windows, air conditioning, tilt, cruise, the Brougham package and factory am/fm stereo/cassette.  More important for the buyer today, the drive train is dead reliable, the original exterior metal is still metal and the paint is knock-out . . .
