Short-lived Domestic Oddity

Not all oddities come from the 90s or earlier.  As a matter of fact, the Chevy Trailblazer spun off a small series of good ones in the 2000s.  Those include the third Generation Oldmobile Bravada, the Saab 9-7x, the Isuzu Ascender (note: three brands GM killed one way or another), the Buick Ranier and our subject car, the Envoy XUV.  We applaud car companies trying different things, but this one just didn’t catch on, despite a memorable ad campaign with a Christmas tree in the back. It was around for only the 2004 and 2005 model years…

For this who don’t remember, these have a sliding roof portion and folding partition to convert them from SUV to psuedo-pickup relatively quickly.

All long-wheelbase Envoy EXTs are ugly, but these bring their own not-so-easy-on-the-eyes looks.  Also, ghetto-inspired three-spoke wheels don’t help thing at all.

And…that carries over to the rear 3/4 view.

Standard-issue Envoy here.

Not too exciting here – the ubiquitous 4.3L V6.  <<EDIT:  It’s the good ‘ol 5.3L V8 and the six in other Trailblazers was a 4.2L I6.  Our bad and thanks to Bryan for reminding us!>>

Normal SUV with plastic seatbacks?  Wait for it…

…this is the Envoy XUV money shot!!

This is a one owner 2005 Envoy XUV XLT.  Very well equipped with all available options except the Navigation system.  Interior very clean, no rips, tears, carpets always fully covered like new.  Non-smoker.  Exterior shows good finish with a few dings and scratches normal on a vehicle this age.  Gargage kept.  This vehicle was used for long distance commuting from Denver to Tampa for several years.  I now drive it between Tampa and Miami every week.  Oil change every 3000 miles, all required maintenance done by dealer. records kept.  Recent non-maintenance repairs include; new front hubs (original equip) and brakes (original equip); shift cable replaced; fuel tank sensor replaced; Oxygen sensors replaced. Tires are about 50%.
