Once upon a time, customized mini-blazers were fairly common; but I can’t say I’ve ever seen this ‘puffy top’ approach employed.
The seller claims this was a ‘show truck’ back in the day. It does indeed have some sort of body kit, in addition to shaved bumpers, ‘Vette wheels and that remarkably odd soft top. Perhaps it appeared on the 18th fairway at Pebble Beach in the early 90s?
The current owner dropped a mildly hot-rodded 4.3L V6 in place of the boat anchor 2.8, which is good news if you actually want to drive this one. I suspect the S-10 Blazer with 2.8 was one of the slowest cars of all time…

Anyone think the door vents are functional?
Rear end looks close to stock, but the side pipes really jump out from this angle.
Yes, it appears that door vents and side pipes were deployed on both sides! Could the tiny hood scoop be functional?
Here’s that’s ‘soft top. Clearly, it doesn’t drop; so it’s just for looks. Perhaps the original builder was trying to match his or her grandmother’s Town Car at the time?
Interior is the stock plastic-fest for which these are well known and appears to be in very good shape.
Tach was added, but the rest look stock here.
The seller stuck a fairly big Edelbrock carb on this 4.3L, which is an interesting choice. Based on this view, the hood scoop is not functional…

Here is a complete throw back Mini Truck….Barn find.. It’s a 1983 S10 Blazer Tahoe Show Winner. It was a Show truck built some time in the late 80’s early 90’s if you can believe that. The body and interior is all original for the time is was built and still in amazing condition, Only one tear in the drivers seat and it could use a new carpet ( just dirty/ couple of stains..it’s 30+ yrs old). Nice little stereo.. Jensen DVD player a couple of Amps some decent speakers and a 10″ Kicker subwoofer in a big sealed box. It hits really hard for what it is.The Paint color is hard to describe, It’s Brownish, Purpleish, Raspberryish, with some Pearl and Flakes. It’s very hard to get a good picture of the actual color.. No picture I’ve ever taken, did it Justice. Its incredible and everybody asks “What color is that?” This truck is a driver so there are some chips in the paint, some minor flaws, Couple scratch’s. No Dents. A few places have been kind of repaired, But then again this truck was built 20++ yrs ago. and it looks Amazing for being so old..I can pick my teeth in the paint,it still that clean.it has shaved bumpers, they were pulled closer to the body, I believe it’s an original Choo Choo Customs Body kit. Little hood scoop. And a Killer Rag Top Soft top. Never seen another one quit like this and still in awesome shape. When I got the truck it was in storage for 15+ yrs and got stuck between motor changes.Had a 2.8, and was in pieces. I built the 4.3 that’s in it now, 9.5-1 comp, a mild and in hind site too small of a cam, It was the biggest factory roller cam, but with the custom GM 4 barrell intake, Edelbrock 600 carb 1.6 roller rockers and high performance ignition,it ended up too small. The motor wants to make a lot more power. It also has a Holley Blue electric fuel pump and electric fan. My plan was always break in the motor and put some boost on it. Has a custom single 2.5 to 3 inch Flowmaster exhaust and sounds just Angry. It has a Mad Dog Stage 2 700r4 Overdrive Transmission with about a 1800 stall converter and shift kit. 3.42 rear end with 4 wheel disk brakes and a modified G80 traction lock limited slip. The suspension is a Bell Tech 4-3 drop, Springs and custom shocks in the back and spindles and springs in the front. 19×10 and 18×9 Corvette wheels and tires. I even have the original spare tire and cover. This truck is an almost daily driver, if its nice and not raining, I drive this truck, which means insured tagged and still gets dirty. Current setup has about 4000 miles on it, all mine.I would drive this truck anywhere anytime. The only thing not hooked up is the A/C..I have all the parts, compressor is new and installed, never engaged. I always intended for a bigger cam, so it never got hooked up. Turn the key, pump it 3 times and hit it… Always starts even when it was 20 degrees..its a carb so it needs to warm up. but always reliable. Let the pictures speak for themselves. Ga Title in hand. One response to “Throwback Friday: Custom S-10 Blazer”
Back in the early/mid 90's those faux ragtops were very common, especially in the south. I had a s-10 with one on it, along with a matching bedcover done in the boat canvas. Most had reverse deep dish wire wheels grounded with 195/50's. It was not a great look, but whateva, it was the 90's.
