Here we have an uber-rare West German Croco off-road vehicle. It floats, it has four-wheel drive AND steering and it’s powered by a Wankel. What’s not to love?
Anytime you find or own a vehicle about which the best source of information is Lane Motor Museum, you’re onto something good. I thought the background in one of the ‘example’ photos in the ad looked familiar and, sure enough, it was taken at the Lane.
This one has been a neglected project for some time and currently has a Honda engine installed, but still ‘needs a little work to get running’. The Wankel is included, however. It’s hard to put a value on this, as it’s not clear where one would find another. If it can run without TOO much effort, the price doesn’t seem horrible.

Attention Mr. Jay Leno! I bet you do not have one of these!! LOL
I have a 1983 TAG Croco Amphibious Vehicle for sale…
Its a barn find! It has 140km on the odometer & 19 hours of operation!
Made in Germany!
I planned on restoring but I need the money for my business & must sadly part with it.
These vehicles came with mirrors, headlights, turn signals, brake lights, windshield wipers, horn, etc. & were designed to be used in traffic on regular asphalt roads, dirt roads, snow, sand, & over water of course!
VERY RARE!!!! The only Crocos I found out there are all in museums! I am located in Southern California & have title in hand!
Vehicle has 4 wheel drive & unique 4-wheel steering!!
I purchased this vehicle about 1 1/2 years ago & have not worked on it at all. I have many extra parts including new rear turn signals & brake lights.
It has a newer Honda V-Twin engine currently installed but will need a little work to get it running. I also have the original Wankel (rotary) engine. I want just $15,500 for the vehicle & all the extras.
The last 2 pictures show other Crocos (both in museums) & how they can look restored!
Restored & re-painted this vehicle could well be worth over $50K

Hi I was interested in the item. Is it still for sale? Please contact me at malaya.roden@gmail.com thank you
Photos were NOT taken at the Lane museum, they were taken at a tow company's impound yard were I vehicle purchased from (I dont know why someone would assume). I have since sold the vehicle to an Audi engineer in Germany. He had it shipped there & he plans on doing a full & complete restoration!
